Laurentian Valley is pleased to announce that we are hosting the beloved Ice Fishing Derby again at Lemke Lake! The 6th annual Ice Fishing Derby will be hosted on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. The event is open to all ages and is free to attend (which includes a hot dog lunch)! It’s a great family event!. This year, once again, LV 50+ Fit & Feisty will be offering hot drinks and helping with the lunch and event set up and take down!

Requirements to Participate:
- must pre-register (registrations will open soon, stay tuned)
- pre-registration helps plan for food so everyone gets to enjoy the lunch!
- must have fishing equipment & own seating (event organizers can drill fishing holes if needed)
- must have a fishing licence if you are 18 years old and over or under 65 years old (may purchase a one-day fishing licence)
- if you are under 18 years old or 65 and older, you must have a government-issued identification with you that includes your name and date of birth, at all times while fishing (identification acts as your licence to fish if you belong to one of these age ranges)

Event Guidelines:
- catch and release
- dress accordingly for no shelter and possible slush (proper boots)
- you are encouraged to bring your own scoops and augers; the event
- organizers will drill holes if preferred
- bring own bait (worms suggested)
- you may bring a portable ice hut for shelter (shelter will not be provided)
- only one line per angler
- may consider bringing a shovel if you want to clear your fishing area (some years have had a good layer of snow over the ice)
- you may measure fish that are caught at anytime during the derby at the measurement station headed
- your largest catch will be recorded as your entry in the derby, however each catch will enter you into a draw for a door prize!
Prizes:
- Prizes to be won for the longest fish, along with runner-up awards!
